Colin’s Coffee Update! Good News - by Colin Gawel

Update Thursday, June 11th at 4pm. Great news. Myself and another staff member have already gotten our covid results back and we are both clear. Honestly, we weren’t worried but knowing we are 100% clear is great for everyone’s peace of mind. I booked my test at CVS on my phone and had it scheduled within two hours. It was easy to do. They say results are returned in 2-4 days, I got mine in 27 hours.

So the moral of the story is this: If you have symptoms, stay home and get tested. If positive, contact people you were in contact with so they can either get tested or monitor for symptoms and isolate. We never had any symptoms at the coffee shop, but decided to err on the side of caution.

Honestly, it would be extremely hard to catch any virus at the coffee shop these days unless you were trying to on purpose. Even then, I’d have to bet against you.

Once again: No sitting inside, Six Foot Distance, Textline for Curbside pickup is available. 614 668 4380, we have hand sanitizer everywhere, our bathrooms are open to wash hands, most mornings both doors are open creating a nice breeze. It’s almost like camping. We clean all day and deep clean every night. I work here everyday so trust me, I want to feel safe too.

So we will be open our normal hours Friday June 12th 7am-2pm.

And then guess what… We are all taking the weekend off. Our staff has been amazing and we have been open every single day since this whole thing started in March. Everyone is going to take a much needed break and enjoy this beautiful weather. Support another local coffee shop while we are gone!

Colin’s Coffee will be on Vacation June13/14. Regular hours return Monday June 15th. - Colin

Previous Update Below

On Wednesday, June 10th at 9:30am, we got word at the coffee shop that some staff and customers were potentially exposed to someone who recently tested positive for Covid 19.

As Dr. Amy Acton says, “There is no playbook for this.” We made the decision to close immediately, get all staff tested, and continue our daily deep cleaning practices. Additionally, we have kept a strict To Go policy this entire time, along with a textline and curbside pick-up available. No sitting inside. The patio is wide open. I’m happy to report that personal spacing has been NO problem here. To be honest, Colin’s Coffee has too much space. Usually people say, “I thought you were closed” or “Where is everybody?” I suppose that’s bad for business yet surely good for health. Go figure.

While we are bummed to have our doors locked, myself and all staff members were tested today and will have our results in 2-4 days. Everyone feels healthy and nobody is symptomatic.

Am I overreacting?  Maybe. Some have told me that. But we are all in this together and certainly we want to do our part to be responsible citizens. Or as Ben Franklin once said, “An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure.” Anyway, everyone at Colin’s Coffee loves what we do, loves being part of this amazing community, and we hope to be back very soon. Stay safe. X O - Colin
