Covid Thoughts, part five: Don't Go Inside. All Watershed Club Shows Postponed Until 2021.
This much the nerds have figured out: the absolute worst place you can be during the Covid-19 crisis is inside a room with a bunch of people and without fresh air for an extended period of time. In fact, this is where almost all the cases are contracted. Dingy bars with no patio, restaurants with the doors closed, sweaty gyms with no open windows and sadly……most live music clubs.
Watershed had a new vinyl EP scheduled for release this August and a handful of shows lined up to support it. The good news is the record is still coming out (details soon), but the bad news is we cancelled all the shows. Sure, there was probably a way to make them work but it would be really irresponsible/narcissistic on our part to request people to hang out inside together just to watch us bang out three chords and a cloud of dust. Not to mention the people who would have to work the shows. It would just feel….. off.
I love rock n roll, but it’s only rock n roll.
However, it’s extremely important to note that this is just our situation. Watershed hasn’t been a full time touring band for many, many years so it takes zero courage for us to make this decision. Our live days have come and gone. Hats off and hearts out to all the artists, clubs and roadies trying to keep the guitars tuned and the spotlights on. Safe gigs, great gigs are happening somewhere right now. Hopefully very soon, they are happening everywhere. Until then, stay safe, Colin, Joe, Herb, Rick , (Ricki C and Biggie)
Supporting and sharing the band through Spotify is a huge help. Please help us un-flatten the Watershed curve. (editor’s note: I think the word you’re looking for there is dis-flatten.)
