Reelin’ and Rockin’ at the Gateway Returns with The Last Waltz

From August 2011 until November 2016, CD92.9 Morning Show host Brian Phillips hosted a monthly film series called Reelin’ and Rockin’ at the Gateway Film Center. As you may have surmised from the clever title, we would screen a Rock Doc every month at the fabulous Gateway Film Center. (1550 N. High 43201 - Onsite Parking, too.) Click here for Facebook page.

Between boring real life commitments and a global pandemic, the series has been on hold since that time. However, with my son now off to OSU, my new empty nest status empowers me to get back in the game and Reelin is back in a new, better time slot. It’s so much fun to watch these movies on the big screen surrounded by fellow music fans rather than alone on your Ipad, choking down your last beer on Saturday night. That’s actually kinda pathetic. And I should know, I do it all the time. In fact, just last night I spent an hour “watching” Eddie Van Halen isolated guitar tracks when I should have been sleeping. Anyway…

So join us at the Gateway Film Center Friday November 18th for a screening of the legendary Martin Scorsese film The Last Waltz, featuring The Band and guest stars from Eric Clapton to Muddy Waters, Joni Mitchell to Van Morrison. The Festival Bar opens at 7pm (with lots of music by The Band) and the movie starts at 9pm. Tickets just $5 and proceeds donated to CD92.9 For The Kids. Even if you can’t stay for the movie, stop by the bar to hang with some fellow rock n roll nerds for a bit.

We haven’t quite nailed down the upcoming slate of movies but I can confirm possible titles/subjects being considered are: This One is For Andy, Beastie Boys, Leonard Cohen, Bruce Springsteen and many more..

I’ve got to run. Got some customers here at Colin’s Coffee. Hope to see you Friday November 18th at the Gateway Film Center. - Colin

You could come in person to see this classic movie on the big screen with all of your best friends…

Or stay home whacking back a 15 pack of natty light watching this.. Ok, this is still a pretty cool option, but you can do it after the movie.
