Welcome back to a very special edition of the world’s worst boxing blog. If you would like to cover combat sports for Pencilstorm, please contact us and I will promptly fire myself. In the meantime, there is a huge fight happening on ESPN Saturday, October 17th. That’s right, regular old ESPN. #1P4P Vasili Lomachenko vs #1 contender Teofimo Lopez for the unified lightweight championship of the world. Oh baby, this is going to be a banger.
I cannot remember the last time a fight this big was on regular TV. And yes, old-timers, ESPN is now considered regular TV. But still, even crappy fights end up on pay-per-view or at the very least streaming platforms such as ESPN+ or DAZN so I’ve been looking forward to this battle since it was announced.
So if you are still a fan of the sweet science such as myself, set a reminder for Saturday night. Estimated ring-walk is 10:30 pm EST. - Colin G
