Okay, so Jeremy’s on the road and the rest of the Pencll Storm staff seems to have contracted the dreaded “End of Summer Blues,” and we neglected to get a Saturday Night Special together for this week. Therefor we are going to turn to the Kings of Autumn Rock - the one & only Kinks - to take up the slack. Enjoy.
I fully realize this song doesn’t mention “autumn” specifically in the lyrics, but the evenings in the tune are “chilly, chilly” and does anybody out there in rock & roll blog-land doubt for one nanosecond that Ray Davies wrote this song in the fall?
Colin stuck with The Kinks a lot longer than I did. (It could be our relative ages.) This 1984 cut (from Word Of Mouth) certainly fits the theme. Thanks, Colin.
