World’s Worst Boxing Blog - Two Huge Fights
Wow. We have three of the top four P4P fighters in action just 4 days apart! First up is Naoya Inoue (#2) moving up in weight class to take on Stephan Fulton for his unified super bantamweight titles in Tokyo, Japan. The Monster vacated his undisputed bantamweight titles to make the jump from 118 to 122 pounds and try to continue his reign of terror in a new weight class. Fulton, the current champion, who fights out of Philadelphia, agreed to travel to Inoue’s home country to defend his straps. Balls call. The fight happens on ESPN+ at 8am on Tuesday July 25th.
Kudos to both these undefeated champions who each made major concessions in order to make this fight happen in a timely manner. It is sort of the opposite of….
Errol Spence Jr (#4) vs Terrence “Bud’ Crawford (#1) who have been teasing the public for years before FINALLY agreeing to settle who will be undisputed champ at welterweight. This is the fight boxing fans have been waiting for and it’s finally happening Saturday July 29th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.(Showtime PPV) Sure, it might have been a bigger fight three years ago, but both fighters are still mostly in their prime and it’s a true 50/50 call. I’d offer a prediction but I have no idea who is going to win. I guess that’s why we call this the world’s worst boxing blog.
However, I do have one other prediction. After this fight, I don’t see Spence or Crawford fighting in this weight class again. The next wave of young fighters including Jaron “Boots” Ennis is waiting and considering how long Spence and Bud dodged each other, I don’t see them taking less money to fight the next Clubber Lang at 147.
