This Song! The Debut of THE NEEDMORES and their new song Lookin'

Let’s all say hello to THE NEEDMORES! Detroit’s newest and latest and greatest rock and roll band. The band is the creation of Lenny Grassa (ex The Leonards) who needed a project to get him out of the house after his previous band Popular Creeps imploded late 2023. I told Lenny that Ex-Tuco/current Glamour Machine bassist Jason Bowes was a great fit, and Jason brought in drummer Eric Klisz (ex-Ruiners, Clashback, and Culture Bandits). Jason Neckrock on second guitar was the missing piece that tied it all together, and a juggernaut was born.

The Needmores played their second show at my record release celebration in September. I stood off to the side rocking out and bobbing my head, taking in their songs and the new energy Lenny had behind him to bring them to life.

Here we are, a couple short months later, and The Needmores have released their first tune “Lookin’” to their Bandcamp. I couldn’t possibly approve more of the 1:40 length (in glorious GBV fashion) and the economical arrangement that makes it feel not-too-short, not-too-long and leaves you wanting just a lil’ more when it ends. It’s glorious.

I’m looking forward to seeing The Needmores in a couple weeks when they open for JP and The Tucos at Trixie’s in Hamtramck, but I am not looking forward to following them. It’s an early show, and favs All Over The Shop (remember this Pencil Storm piece?) are opening, hitting at 7, so get there early, and we’ll have ya home before the golden carriage turns into a pumpkin.
